A SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIVE MEETING.

This year marks 50 years of BPNA as an association and 40 years of the Bluff Park Historic District having landmark designation status as the city’s second historic district!

SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKERS: Maureen Neeley and Tim Grobaty

TOPIC: “A Program & Conversation on the Unique History of the Bluff Park Neighborhood”

Interact with neighbors to share your stories and experiences living in the neighborhood and city. Whether you own, rent, or reside here, you’ll find this to be an informative and fun meeting!

Current BPNA Members receive a new 50/40 Anniversary Commemorative Wine Glass free as our way of saying thanks for being a great and supporting neighbor.  Additional wine glasses available for sale. 

Hear updates from the BPNA Board on the latest happenings around the neighborhood and ways you can volunteer and get involved.

Come early for light refreshments and social time, beginning at 6:30 pm. Small bites from Olives Gourmet Grocer provided compliments of the BPNA. Mix and mingle. Visit informational tables during the social time from the City of Long Beach Development Services, Historical Society of Long Beach, and Long Beach Heritage. The meeting will start at 7:00 pm.

• All who live, own and rent in the Bluff Park Historic District are especially invited to participate in our quarterly Community Meetings.
• The meetings are informative, engaging, fun, free and open to all. Enjoy free refreshments. Informative and fun for all ages!
• Meet and mingle with friends, neighbors and leaders within the community.
• The Bluff Park Historic District runs roughly from Ocean to Broadway, and from Loma to Junipero.
• Meetings will take place a short distance from our neighborhood at the Bixby Park Recreation Center, Social Hall #1.

MEET OUR GUEST SPEAKERS 

Maureen Neeley is a reference librarian and owner of HouStories, having researched over 4000 properties in Long Beach.  She is a past recipient of Long Beach Heritage‘s Preservationist of the Year, served as past president of Belmont Heights Community Association, and serves in numerous leadership and advisory roles for historic preservation organizations.  She has lived in Long Beach since 1996.

Tim Grobaty is a columnist for the Long Beach Post.  He began his newspaper career at the Press-Telegram in 1976 as a copy boy and then became a feature writer, music critic, TV critic, copy editor, and daily columnist.  He has been with the Post since 2018.  He is the author of several books, including I’m Dyin’ Here. He is an award-winning, off-beat, and always-funny voice in Long Beach.

* HEALTH DIRECTIVES

This will be an indoor event on City-owned property.  We will be following the current directives from the Long Beach Department Health & Human Services. In alignment with current guidelines, we will not require attendees to wear masks. You are welcome and encouraged to wear a mask.  Although we will not require documentation, current health guidelines recommend all 5 years old and up be vaccinated (and boosted) with the  COVID-19 vaccine.
