Celebrating Supporters
Join us for a special unveiling celebration! See 80 new donor plaques adorning the Phase 3 lampposts of the Bluff Park Historic Lamppost Project. Find your plaque. Read what others have written. Uncover history and stories. Enjoy free refreshments. Remarks from City of Long Beach Councilwoman Cindy Allen and others special guests.

The venue is outdoors. Recommended attire is smart casual.

Ten (10) lampposts were installed along Molino Avenue in the spring of 2024 with thanks to the generous support of scores of individual donors, large and small. This event will be an opportunity to celebrate YOU.

  • 3 phases done.
  • 3 streets transformed.
  • 27 freeway-style lights removed.
  • 30 lampposts made from the original manufacturer of the 1920s E. 1st St lights.
  • 30 historic-style lampposts installed.
  • 240 donor plaques affixed.
  • Countless legacies created.

WHAT’S NEXT? As the City prepares to welcome the world for the 2028 Olympics, the Historic Lamppost Project is bringing back iconic lampposts that brighten Bluff Park and showcase our city’s beauty. To complete the Project, more phases will need to be installed throughout the Bluff Park Historic District. We need you. Join us in preserving history and illuminating the future! Long Beach Gives is this month.

WHO ARE OUR COLLABORATORS?

  • Special thanks to the critical support of Long Beach City Council, championed since 2022 by Councilwoman Cindy Allen. The project is part of the Elevate ’28 Infrastructure Investment Plan which is managed by Public Works under the Office of the City Manager.
  • Thanks also to the Port of Long Beach for having provided Sponsorship Grants for BPNA’s several fundraiser and dedication events over the years.
  • Thanks to YOU – Community support, involvement and tax-deductible contributions determine the timing, location, and scope of each successive phase.
