Planting Volunteers Needed
Leadership Long Beach Institute (LLBI) Class of 2017 is hosting a community project to beautify a stretch of medians running along Bellflower Blvd. south of PCH in the Alamitos Heights neighborhood on Saturday, May 6th from 8AM-12PM .

At least 100 volunteers are needed to help with planting. The concept, from start to finish, was conceived by the LLBI project team, and supported by my office. Partners in the project include the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine, Public Works and The Conservation Corp of Long Beach. Donations of time and talent provided by Doug Sato of Things Green PBS-KOCE, Toro Irrigation for a new drip-line installation, and design work from Landscape Architect Todd Bennitt.

volunteersignup to help on this day. Donuts and coffee will be provided on behalf of Dunkin’ Donuts and The City of Long Beach, Neighborhood Services will provide all the tools necessary for a fun filled planting event.

Please note the Bellflower Blvd. southbound lanes between PCH and E. Colorado will be closed from 7AM – 3PM on May 6th for the safety of those planting. The northbound #1 lane (closes to the median) will also be closed. The #2 lane will remain open to accommodate for Stoneybrook residents to access their property.
