BPNA Board of Directors

Marco Pizzo, President *

Marco has lived in the Bluff Park Historic District since 1999, started his own Long Beach interior design studio in 2003, and regularly puts together unique porch decorations adorning his Craftsman home. He served on the BPNA board as Vice President of Events and Fundraising for 6 years, has served as President since 2023, and is the Co-Lead of the Bluff Park Historic Lamppost Project since 2014. His goal is to continue to grow the association and help promote, educate and protect our historic character, while fostering unity, civic engagement and public safety goals within our neighborhood and providing to and with residents, members and volunteers exciting events and forums that promote a sense of community and camaraderie.

Sergio Macias, Treasurer **

A longtime member of the community, Sergio Macias  joined the BPNA board in November of 2017.  Sergio’s philosophy is that the world would be that much better if every home adopted a charity.  He has a passion for education, environment, leadership development and human rights issues. Sergio has been working as a realtor for more than 30 years.

Jeffrey Mallin, Vice President of Historic Preservation * and Acting Interim Secretary

Having served for 6 years as BPNA President and as VP of Historic Preservation since 2023, Jeff has met wonderful people who are now more than just neighbors; they are friends and mentors to him. The preservation and cohesiveness of the neighborhood means more than just historic preservation. It is also the people and sense of place and home. Professionally he recently retired from clinical practice as a Pediatrician and enjoys serving in various roles for the advancement of Continuing Medical Education for Kaiser Permanente and at the state and national levels. He cherishes being able to make a difference and have fun working with others in the neighborhood and city he loves.

Debby Borza, Vice President of Public Safety *

In 1976 Debby moved from Detroit MI to San Diego. Her career in computers began as a computer operator, and she retired 28 years later as a Help Desk Analyst from Copley Computer Services.  She moved to Annapolis, Maryland, to work with the National Park Service on the Flight 93 National Memorial.  After its completion in 2018, she and her partner Greg moved to Long Beach in 2020.  She serves on other non-profits boards, including as the Founder and Treasurer with the Families of Flight 93, Founder and Vice President and current Member with the Friends of Flight 93 and is currently on the board of the Flight 93 National Memorial Trail. “For all people to be known and acknowledged for the difference that they make” is the context for her life.  For the Bluff Park neighborhood, her goal is to create relationships that make a difference in the quality of our lives.
